Well, I found out the surround reinforcement beam for a 70 is unique for a couple of years. (what else is new for 70). Naturally the aftermarket piece is the newer style.
After calling the venders I've dealt with, and all I could find, no luck.Although Bair's was incredibly helpful, I got the wrong part. (going back no problem). The Dr. didn't have it, and had no desire to listen. Paragon wanted me to pay $250.00 for them to see if they might have one! It's not like I'm a new customer. Is there a special club I'm not in, or a password to get info on old pieces? Old pieces must be out there somewhere.
On the technical side. Is there a way to modify the new beam to work with the old style? The mounting plate for the 2 relays doesn't fit on the new piece. One horn location and harness clip holes are different. If a new surround comes with the new style beam installed, how would someone deal with these issues?
I do have a excellent old newer style. If that's the way I have to go, how are the 2 relays attached to the beam without the plate?
Any help appreciated.Thanks Dennis
