    1978 silver anniversary ,int trim?

I always thought oyster was the only true 78 silver ann. interior color.I had seen silver 78s being painted two-tone in the dealers bodyshop that had red and black int. trim and just figured they all were phony without oyster interior. Could any color be ordered with the anniversary paint.
Same with the Indy pace cars with other then silver seats!,I just figured they were cheap copys?
    Thanks and Welcome......... Stormy One.........

My books indicate that you could order any one of five different interior colours with the silver anniversary exterior scheme. Medium red leather is one of these five along with black, saffron, dark blue or oyster white. Each colour interior was available in either cloth or leather.

        Sorry Stormy,
My Bad, preconceived uninformed past opinion till today. Since your color code lists both color codes denoting it as a silver anniversary model, After looking I find that red and black are suggested interior color choices as well as the oyster I always assumed was solely correct. Anyone seen any other color ordered?
I two-toned a few new silver 78s and as well as painting a couple primer only cars.the color codes would show this

My question(anyone) was if the Pace car edition also had other available interior colors besides silver? I also assumed was solely correct. I find no listing in the blackbook.

Oyster made the promotional photos but I always find it the most boring of interior color choices in 78, adding not much excitement to the otherwise understated silver/charcoal anniversary paint scheme. I've seen a number of low-mileage SAs with mahogany, a non-recommended color combination. It (oyster) is hardly the "color of choice" for the SA model.

Oyster, red and black were the "recommended" interior colors while mahogany, dark blue, beige and brown were non recommended schemes. I find the mahogany the most exciting color and matches up well with the C5 silver exterior and firethorn interior. But that's me and my perspective.

But tell me...is this red/black an interior scheme done by a dealer? I was a bit confused with the way it was presented.

Pace cars were straight forward...silver interior or "smoke gray" officially. No other choices! When Z78 was ordered, an entire mix of Pace Car codes were called out and listed on the build sheet.

            Tom
That year they brought in a few solid silver cars some with black interior and some with red interior and they got the SA treatment, red tape stripe wheels ,two-tone charcoal paint with border stripes. Also a few black cars and a primer only cars with other then silver interior and they got the spoilers and ground effects and indy pace car decals installed for a big parade that year.
But all the anniversarys cars ordered in I ever saw had oyster only, resulting in my assumption, and in preceding years I never thought about it or looked it up.
They all were priced like $2500.00and up over sticker, which made me frown at the time and since when reading ads like "white 78 anniversary edition" on Ebay or elsewhere, because they all shared the emblems.

Just Like the post last year about 69 being the only c3 sidepipe year
I've had two 68s and a 70 with sidepipes and assumed back then and for years that they were original to the cars.
            I'm always learning!!!!!!!
            Thanks for the facts...Tom

Re: 1978 silver anniversary , RED interior

I remember looking at a new one at Hartway Motors in Medina, NY. (It's still Hartway and they still like Corvettes there, but it's a real small store.)

That Silver Anniversary model had red interior. My friend there wanted me to buy it, but I waited about two years and bought a used pace car from a GM Harrison employee.

We enjoyed the pace car for two years, then sold it for the same amount paid.

I also know a guy with some photos of his 1978 Silver Anniv., with blue inside.

Nice picture of a Corvette, but it is a 1982 Collector Edition - not a 1978 Silver Anniversary.
The CE had a special interior, the SA was available in all colors.

We have one with red interior and one with black.

Of course everyone has their opinions. Mine is I love the Oyster interior. My 78 still has the original interior in it and it still lloks good to me.
