Detailing an aluminum manifold

Show time is here. What is ther best way to clean up a 2x4 aluminum manifold?

Since I'm going to have it out for other reasons I may as well have it cleaned.

I've heard that media blasting is a no-no since no matter how hard you try it's near impossible to keep the media out of the plenums and ports and that residue can cause engine damage when sucked into the engine. What I've done in the past is hot tanking but I've been somewhat disappointed with the results.

Any one got a better idea?

There have been several threads on the topic with the recommendation to have them "reskinned." You may wish to visit those threads, glean what you need and then followup on the board.

Jerry did the manifold and valve covers for my 56 - absolute top notch. You may also consider his once in a lifetime exhaust manifold treatment - exhaust manifolds look brand new forever. Steve
