My 1974 Coupe currently has RWL, Cooper Pro 70 Radial Tires on it, P225/70R15. The spare is a blakwall Goodyear Eagle RS-A, P225/70R15 (mounted inside out based on the directions given on the tire). I do not know what tire version the car was built with.
I'm looking to replace these tires with hopes of accomplishing three objectives (realizing that some compromising will be necessary). First, I'm looking to install the closest replacement Goodyear tire to the original on the car, two, to whittle away at the 21 points that I lost on tire originality, and three, to install a tire that will not overly compromise the safety and handling of the car.
I'm interested in hearing from members who've had some experience with tire purchases having similar objectives in mind. What tire is the closest replacement to the original? Any thoughts on where it might be purchased? Which tire would provide the best compromise between points and handling? Suggestions/recommendations?
