Tricks for getting out console plate? (62-340)

I am going crazy trying to reattach the ground wire that connects to the back of the clock/heater control console plate in the '62. I even took the driver's seat out to get more space under the dash, no luck. I guess I'm a lousy contortionist! So how in heck do you get at this? Or is it easier to just pull the console trim and loosen the entire console fiberglass and do it that way? Any BTDT advise would be great. Thanks!

No need to remove the fiberglass. Loosen the plate and work through the hole if you can't get behind it.

Rob,

You might be able to pull the job using a magnatic screwdriver holding the tiny screw while you try to get it positioned right to get it in... Worked for me!

Try going in from passenger side. You have to remove fiberglass panel in front of heater, but way easier then from driver side.
