57 Generator bracket

What is the correct color for the generator support arm on a 57 with 270 HP that was made in April? Is it orange or black?....thanks

chevy engine orange unless its "a mid to late 57" according to the judging manual. i'd paint it orange regardless of vin #. mike

Hold the paint job...

I'd paint it semi gloss black for 2 reasons. One, that's likely how it was originally painted, and two, for the joy of being in disagreement with the Maryland Missfire.

While the AIM is a "moving target", if the bracket shows up in the AIM along with a part number, that means it was added at St Louis. Therefore, it will be a dip painted black part in my humble opinion.

Black also has the advantage that dirt won't show as easily... But of course you'll be cleaning the engine compartment after every ride (-; as I do ;-)

I have a late '57 (June,1957). The bracket is black. Of course, who knows how many times it has been painted.
