Felpro makes a manifold gasget set#90502 that costs almost twice as much as the standard set. The material is different and is supposed to be a higher performance application. Anyone know just what it is that might these more expensive gasgets a better choice, if in fact they are?

Re: '66 BB FELPRO EXH MANIFOLD GASGETS
Rob,
Gaskets on an exhaust manifold is a very bad idea for a number of reasons but probably the most important, especially on the particular car that you're working on is the fact that it's VERY easy to break off the ears of the manifold when torquing to specs. The end ears are the worst and I can almost guarentee one will crack.
And... as Bill said, it's not correct.

NO EXH MANIFOLD GASGETS
You mean no gasket at all?

Re: NO EXH MANIFOLD GASGETS
That is correct, the manifolds are machined flat, and the head surfaces likewise so that under the compression of properly torqued bolts, no gasket is required. Also improves heat transfer out of the exhaust manifolds into the head and thus the engine coolant.Bill Clupper #618- Top
