    Weatherstripping Cement

From a NCRS judging standpoint, should Black or Yellow Contact cement be used to attach the weathersripping to the Doors,Hatch and Hood?

3M weatherstripping adhesive, available at your local auto parts store works just fine, yellow-ish

Yellow, and smear it good if you are going to judged. Best to look at top flight winners to get a real feel for the final look.

Dennis, When you say smear it good do you mean lots of it and visible or good as in real neat? Thanks, Randy

          Randy:

Original weatherstripping cement was not applied real neatly. It is visible when viewing the weatherstripping.

Thanks Warren, I haven't had mine judged yet and the stripping cement is highly visible so I was concerned.

So do you get deductions for not being sloppy when you apply the adhesive????

                Steve:

I wouldn't think so. More consideration would be important, if the wrong type of cement or color was used for applying the weatherstripping.

As Dennis posted above, best to look at Flighted cars, or better yet Bowtie cars.

                  Shark Weatherstripping Cement

I've got a good photo of my 1970's cement, dripped all over the trim tag.

How do I post a pic to this website, without using someone elses server?

See various photos on www.midvette.homestead.com - Look for the photos of the yellow 1967 C2. Also shows an orig. location of the "GM Mark Of Excellence".

Here's a sample photo. Look in the help section to see how to post photos.

You need somebody's server, and many are free.
