      Drums change NOT shoes !

Brake shoes remained the same as part #3794196 and 3794201.
      The #3794201 changed to #3846287 on 8/63.
      The #3794196 chaged to #3846286 on 8/63.
I own all styles and if you do the research the total swept area of the linings is the difference. between 63 and 64.
I'm writing a book that one day that will have all part numbers, engineering paperwork and pictures detailing the Z06.

Re: Letter from Buffalo Zone (via Michael)

Thanks Tom. I thought everyone would enjoy reading that. GM really did respond to the requests of many of the racers and if I remember correctly, it was Yenko and Gulstrand that did most of the requesting on this particular issue.

Wish I knew how to post pic's so I wouldn't have to bother other people but I think I'm too old to learn anything now. Thanks again,

        Michael

I believe Dick Guldstrand was the first to race a "Z-06 Convertible". He removed the Z-06 hardware from a coupe and installed it in a Convert. with a short windscreen in place of the production windshield.

SCCA Club racers did not need the big tank as the standard tank had adequate capacity for the typically short SCCA sprint races that lasted about 20 minutes. Also, Guldstand felt that a Convert with a short windscreen in place of the windshield, which was legal for SCCA, would have a speed advantage due to lower frontal area.

            Re: I second that !!!

Nope, not the '63 that was shown at the Zion Regional - this one's a '64, allegedly with every piece of paper from the dealer order form on up. We'll see it on June 12th.

You can learn - It's easy.

MH - See the help screen (link right above the word INDEX) at the top of this page. Review what says at the bottom of that "help page".

Even names one of the free photo sites. That's the only stopper for most folks.

                Re: Thanks Tom

I'll have a look at that tonight. I may be able to figure it out even if I am a geezer now.

Thanks for posting the scan. People were starting to email, asking if I could send it directly to them.
