Re: C2- rear end removel
For what you are talking about, if you do not have it, I would get the 1963 shop manual you can buy on this site. It was the book provided to the dealership mechanics. The second purchase should be the AIM (Assembly Instruction Manual) which shows how the entire car goes together. The restorer CD has useful information but I would start with the two mentioned above.

Re: C2- rear end removel
Welcome!
I dont know your mecanical exspereance but its quite an adverturous task. For sure the spring removal is the most dangerous part.I used a shop manual to remove mine (1966 though)and followed it step by step and had no problems. Are you removing the trailing arms? Is there any rust in that area.if there rusted or have not been out in a while thats where your going to have some troubles.
Good Luck and be safe- Top

Re: C2- rear end removel
You definitely need a 1963 Corvette Shop Manual. It shows the old Borg Warner Positraction, which leaves something to be desired. Current complete assembled Positraction cases are available from Eaton (OE after '63, but will fit into a '63 carrier) and Auburn (cone type, which should work fine for the street and is a bit less expensive.)
I co-authored with Bill Bradley a detailed article on Corvette axles, which provides background information and lots of overhaul tips.
It will be published over two consecutive issues of the Corvette Restorer. Terry has all the text and photos, but I'm not sure when it will be published.
