Greetings! I am new to NCRS and this board, so please be gentle. I have a 1969 Coupe, SB, Manual, that was suffering from a R/E side yoke problem. I removed the complete rear suspension and driveline and sent everything out for a complete re-build. (T-arms, strut rods, rear diff.) Installation was proceeding very smoothly (one-person T-arm installation is an experience!) until I hit the proverbial brick wall. I have been struggling now for several hours over re-attaching the e-brake cables to the actuating lever at the wheels. I have tried everything imagineable including prying open the bent-over portion of the lever (won't budge), but there is no way that the cable ends will snap into place! Has anyone had a problem attaching the old rear e-brake cable to the new actuating levers? Would replacing the old rear cable with a newer cable solve this crisis? Am I just having a near-senior moment? Thanks.

Re: C3 Emergency Brake Cable
John,
I have had to disconnect the brackets on the frame where the cable attaches by removing the bolt which holds it, sort of just below the trailing arm. Leave the cable attached to the bracket. Now attach the E-brake cable to the actuating lever, and then go back and attach the bracket by reinstalling the bolt. It seems to be much easier than swearing @#$%^&* over that last 1/4 inch that you can't seem to stretch the E-brake cable.
Hope that helps.

Re: C3 Emergency Brake Cable
Patrick,
Thanks for the response. However, my problem is not a lack of cable length, my issue is that I cannot get the cable to fit under the hook on the actuating lever. It seems like my cable is too thick, or the new actuating lever attachment point is too narrow.- Top

Re: C3 Emergency Brake Cable
It's usually a tight fit and you have to jam it in. If you can't fit it in and if you can't bend the new actuator, I'd suspect you're SOL. You might need a different actuator. I've never seen this before where it actually wouldn't fit, but then again I've never let it NOT fit.
