What is the best way and what to use on cleaning the underbody of a 67 which is still on the frame. Frame was restored when body was off, unfortunately I was unable to do the underbody at the time, I know should have done it. Thanks guys.

Re: cleaning undercarriage
I recently did this and it was a nasty job. I Spread a large plastic sheet over my garage floor (at least 3 mils) and sprayed the undercarriage with a mixture of greased lightning and water. The solution softened the grease/dirt mixture and I scraped it off with a plastic scraper and a nylon brush and finally finished with paper towels. It did not harm my frame paint but MAN... it was a nasty job.

Re: cleaning undercarriage
I use Gunk, also Simple Green, I take the simple green and put in a tank sprayer and spray everything down and let it set awhile. Then I use a small pressure washer which works quite well. I do think that the Gunk works a little better though than the simple green.Years ago I used diesel fuel in a tank sprayer to clean truck chassis and frame rails as well as the engines, it worked well on that but haven't tried it on a vette.I also think that possibly the simple green might promote rust I see some places I have cleaned with it that were not rusty before, just dirty that now are quite rusty. I have not been able to get paint on these areas yet.

Re: cleaning undercarriage
I recently did this NASTY job too. I used a heat gun and plastic scraper for heavier undercoating (Bubba residual) and then Captn Lees paint stripper (WEAR SAFETY GOGGLES!! - I found out the hard way...)to get the rest of the undercoating off. Greased Lightning is the cleaner of choice in my garage and then followed up with a lacquer thinner wipe down. Worked great. Good luck and for your own sanity do the job over a couple of days.
