    C-1 Differential Leak

I have a minor leak from the differential on my '57. It is coming from the area where the driveshaft connects. When I consulted my ST-12 manual, it mentions special tools (J-8614 and J-2637) to remove the the flange nut. My questions are:
    1. Is there a way to replace the oil seal without special tools?
    2. Can I get a new oil seal from NAPA or is there another source?

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

      Re: C-1 Differential Leak

Art, I haven't done a C1 pumpkin but just recently I replace the pinion seal on a Camaro 12 bolt. For the tool I just use a piece of angle iron and bolted it to two of the bolt holes across one side of the yolk. The angle iron was about 2' long and 1/4" thick with 2" flats. On the 12 bolt, I marked the alignment of the nut/yolk/pinion so I would get it tightened to it's original location. I also used a little sealer on the splines and a little loctite on the nut. Hope this helps, Ted
