In response to my original post on this problem Mike McKown wrote:
If I were working on your problem, I would assemble the pressure plate and disc to the flywheel and secure the pressure plate to the correct torque then measure from the flywheel clutch surface to the top of the pressure plate release fingers. Compare that dimension to a known good clutch or a known design dimension.
Can anyone tell me what this dimension is? Mine measures 1 inch, and this does not allow for proper adjustment/release. The Clutch rebuilder I am working with has given me a different pressure plate that provides 1.5 inches on this dimension, but the pressure plate configuration is not like the original Corvette plate, I haven't decided if I am going to use it or buy new.
Thanks in advance for any help,
George
