63 Engine Harness - Is this a replacement?

Note the end that connects to the Alternator. It is the wrong rubber boot. Question though, was the white pin for locking it into the back of the Alternator on original 63 harnesses? My understanding is that the Alternator does not have the hole for this pin (My recently acquired Alternator does not have the hole). So why would the harness have the pin? Was this added later?

Service Replacement - the giveaway is

the green horn wire - 1963 was black.

The green wire could it be the temp. wire with the connector not the horn which is a black wire. Danny

It's the white plastic prong taped into the harness that would plug into a 64 and later alernator that gives it away. It's a 64-65 harness, the only one that was available for 63 from GM since about 1964.

Thanks guys. Then I have a dumb question. From a judging perspective, is a new replacement harness (Lectric, etc.) going to be worth anymore than the service replacement harness? If there is a good new replacement, who has the best?
