    How to Print a Response

Sorry--but I know 62's much better than I know computers. There are times that I want to print certain responses or threads to file away for future reference. How do I identify exactly what I want and then tell my computer to do that?
    Thanks,
    Mike Ernst

Mike: I usually highlight what I want to print, copy, paste to a Word program page. From here I can either 'print' and or save to a file. This way I can keep a few responces on one page.

Mike, if you don't want to bother with opening up another program (color me lazy and results-oriented), just highlight what you want to print and click on the printer icon in the "toolbar" at the top of the Internet Explorer page.

You can also just click on the post frame, and then the print icon...It will print the message, but then you will also get the entire thread index, which I ususally don't require.

        Chuck:

To eliminate the string index, drag the horizontal bar which splits the response fron the string all the way to the top of the window. This will open up the response to full page. Then click anywhere on the response field, to highlight it, and click on "print".

Re: How to Print a Response

Joe, I meant the "Messages In This Thread" string shown below the message; if it's a long thread, those things will add a page or two to the printing...three lines of text and three PAGES of printing. If I just highlight the message text, that's all I will get.

            Chuck:

This is mainly written for Mike, and I am sure that he is following along. I have never used the "highlight" method, and it sounds like a very good way to go. But, if you use the "non highlight" method, then in "print preferences", highlight the "page 1 of whatever" for the print option, and you will only get a 1 page printout.

Wayne - the text on this site is yellow or orange on black background (depending on if you have viewed a post). It will print light as I suspect you are getting the yellow text. I usually just cut/paste to my word editing tool (either Lotus Wordpro or MS Word) followed by changing the text from yellow to black, then you can edit or deal with it as a document....Craig

                  Wayne:

Mine prints in black. I don't know why, but it does. But, you can't go wrong with copy and paste into a text editor, then print. I must have idiot proof printer software installed. Either that, or I had a well earned lucky streak when I built my computer. I dunno?? I am going to try the copy and paste method. In my case, a bit more work, but I'll try it anyway.
These electronic appliances---there are so many different ways to do the same thing. What ever happened to the Underwood upright typewriter, or for that matter, the IBM Selectric? They all went to that big scrap heap in the sky, there to join the ratmotor, carburetor, bias ply tire, and, maybe in the not too distant future, the internal combustion engine running on gasoline. "Fill 'er up, CH4" (methane).

                    Hmm...Interesting

My highlighted posts print black...I wonder if my printer is reversing the black background/yellow text to avoid using up all the black ink on one page. But, when I highlight a post, and copy and paste it in an email, the pasted post text is YELLOW and barely readable. To the receipient, the text is normal.

BTW, I don't use the color cartridge...only the black; all printing is shades black and shades of gray on white paper.

Maybe it's just my printer software.......I tried it once and I got the black background with Yellow text like you see online. Huge waste of black ink so I didn't try it again. I have a different printer now so maybe...... Craig
