    Re: '65 327-350HP A/C Fuel Pump Question

There is one clue not in the JG to the proper configuration top for a 40083 pump, it is ome of very few pumps with reinforcement ribs running from the center column to the domed part of the pump. Look for those and if they are present, look harder for the AC logo. They (AC LOGO) can be hard to see at times, especially on the 40083 pump. I have been told the top of the 40083 is made of magnesium, thus the dark color as compared to other pumps, but I can't verify that

      Bill,

      Thanks for your response..

John Hinckley got me straightened out...It's a service replacement pump...Lack of the logo and the "AX" Stamp indicate it is a service replacement...

As Clem would say, CRS must be setting in as I could have sworn that was the original pump when I stashed it away many moons ago...

I looked like heck for that logo, though...Did a search on ebabe and it confirmed what John said, the ones with the logo's are more moola than the ones without...

      Thanks Again...Rick

Does this look like an original pump with the ribs. This is on my 66 and as far as I can remember has not been changed in the 35 years I have owned the car

Yes, the ribs and the two vent holes are what I have generally seen along with the AC logo for a 40083 pump.
