    1967 Ralley Wheel Trim Rings

Are original 67 ralley wheel trim rings the same as those used in later years? If not what are the differences?

    Thanks,
    Jace Holt

the difference lies in the attachment method. on originals there are four pairs of black oxide "bent fingers" that hold the ring on the rim. these are readily judgable. the service replacement rings attach with what must be 20 to thirty fingers of a different configuration and whereas the originals "finger the rim, the replacement fingers utilize a press fit as a means of attachment.mike

Mike, I think he's asking about the difference between OEM trim rings for 67 wheels, and OEM trim rings for later 7" and 8" wheels. Isn't it true the biggest difference is that 67 trim rings are shorter (narrower?) because the 67 wheels aren't as wide?

chuck: you're correct. the trim rings for a 6" rally wheel is narrower than the ring for c-3 rally wheel. sory for confusion but then again confusion is my middle name. regards, mike

Not only is the method of attaching to the wheel different, the opening for the valve stem is unique. Chevy had other models use 15" Ralleye Wheels in later years. My recollection is that the Corvette Trim rings used in '67 had an oval shape ("balony cut") while the later versions had a longer opening( two half cirles with a small straight section between).
Would anyone disagree, or is my memory off a bit?
