Could someone please tell me, the MINIMUM lifting height of the body in order to clear the chassis when rolling it out from underneath.

Re: 1964 coupe lifting height
The highest point will be the fuel tank neck 40". If the tank is gone the the engine (distributor/Carb) is about 38". If those are gone then the frame high point with tires is about 30". These would be the minimum heights from the ground to the bottom floor pans of the body. Remember, the body needs to be fairly level when you lift it. My coupe was "front heavy" so I rolled the chassis out the back while physically lifting the front end to get things level. When I replace the body I need to get a better center of gravity point on the body.- Top

Re: 1964 coupe lifting height
Thanks Steve. I think I'm going to use Jerry Clark's idea and slowly jack up both front and rear, eventually laying a 2x4 across 4 cinder blocks at each corner. 4 cinder blocks + 2x4=40.250 inches and I still can compensate if I need to. Eventually I will build a wheeled body buck.- Top

Re: 1964 coupe lifting height
Remember that concrete blocks will support a lot of weight - if done right. The holes have to be up. Turn the block with the holes sideways and they can break easily.
Never support metal with concrete. Always have wood in between. The metal makes a point load, the wood spreads the load.- Top
