    C3 Radiators

Is a 69 BB radiator the same as a '72 BB radiator?

    Thank you,
    Brandon

    Brandon------

Yes, it is. However, original radiators for manual tranmsission applications were different than those for auto trans for all 69-72 big block. Manual trans had no trans oil coller fittings.

      Depends....

In that era (69-72), as Joe mentioned, there were different configurations of the Harrison BB brass radiator. BUT, there were also special, limited production versions of high horse BB that used the Harrison big aluminum radiator (as installed on 396 and L88). So, it's also necessary to dot the 'i' and cross the 't' on the configuration of the original '69 BB as well as that of the later era donor BB....

        Jack-----

I assumed that Brandon was referring to the 69-72 copper/brass big block radiator. The aluminum 3007436 was used in 1969 for only L-88/ZL-1 with manual transmission. For 1970, it was not used for any big blocks and for 1971, as far as big blocks go, it was used only for ZR-2. It was not used, at all, for any big blocks in 1972. The 3007436 was not what you could call a "big block radiator", anyway. While it was PRIMARILY used for big blocks, it was also used for 70-72 ZR-1 small blocks. The 69-72 copper/brass big block radiators, GM #3018571 and GM #3019190, were exclusively big block radiators; they were NEVER used for any small block application, whatsoever.

          Re: Depends....

Thank you guys. Jack, I did look out for the difference between the auto and standard versions. That was a concern of mine. i wanted to make sure that the radiator, outside of the core, would be physicaly the same. The radiator that I am looking at has been recored so I am aware that the core may not be "original" in appearance.

Joe, the pictures are on there way. I will try to get them to you this weekend.

          Regards,
          Brandon
