I had the exhaust manifold surfaces machined at a reputable engine building shop. I'm thinking of installing them without gaskets, as original. Is there any high temp gasget maker that I might lightly coat them with before installation? The left one, with the stud that mounts the alternator and power steering pump brackets is quite a bit of work to remove in the event it leaks at all. I realize there was no gasget or sealer originally, but I wouldn't mind using a little sealer for insturance against any minor leaks. I've been told the ultra-high temp red can be used for this.

I don't think that there is any sealer commonly available that will withstand this heat. I wouldn't use any, anyway. If you've had the manifold surfaced, you'll be fine. Most of the time, even if the manifold is not surfaced, it won't leak.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
