Although I was told it would be difficult I've aquired a 1100544 alternator correctly dated for my car. The date is 1C8. My car's build date is 5/24/71.
That makes it the latest 1971 model year 544 I've ever seen. To date I've seen January and February, never later. The next dates I've seen are July/August 71 and after.
Yes, Pirkle would be the one to restore it, assuming you are going for judging and it doesn't work. Actually, I'd have him work on it if it doesn't work no matter what your goal.
When I acquired mine a year or so ago it was working fine, so I just installed it. I'll get it restored when I someday do the rest of the car.
If you get a chance, would you mind e-mailing me and letting me know where you acquired it? Just curious.
