    66' fan belt part number

Would anyone know the GM part number for the fan belt that would have been in use on a 66' 327/350 w/o air and ps? The assembly manual shows #3847710, however, it makes no mention of engine size or options.

    Russell:
I believe that there are two belts for your application. The rearward belt, which is a captive belt running around the crankshaft pulley and the waterpump pulley, bears GM #3871258. The forward belt, which runs around the crankshaft pulley, waterpump pulley and the alternator pulley, bears GM #3861946.

Thank you, I'm not certain where you were able to obtain these numbers but the only GM parts books I have access to were revised in the mid 70's so the part numbers all start with "9". I'm pretty sure that the captive belt (smaller) would have been 34.40" and the forward belt (larger) would have been 54.00" for the L79 66' engine.

I collected this information from this discussion board. I refer you to posts in the archives between Peter Lindahl and Joe Lucia dated April 6, 2004. I hope this helps.
