    C2 hood support

I feel like this is a lame question, but I don't know the answer, so . . . I would like to know if using a wire brush and/or cleaning pads on an original hood support would damage its appearance? I am cleaning and stripping Bubba's paint off it. Lacquor thinner and a rag have most of paint and gunk off, but not all.

Thanks in advance for the advice.

    Rob:

I would not use an abrasive to clean this. It was originally cadmium plated, and if it was painted long ago, you might be lucky enough to find nice, healthy plating left on it. Keep at it with paint stripper, lacquer thinner, or acetone.

      Rob,

Get yourself some aircraft grade paint stripper..(pep poys,O'reilys or local automotive paint supply house) It will soften the paint so a 0000 grade steel wool pad will finish it up nicely.

a wire brush will scratch thru the plating

      good luck
