Is this really a Corvette Trans and Bellhousing? Alan Colvin lists a different casting number for the main case.

In any case, is the bellhousing unique to the three speed?

Here's text from the ad on e-bay. BELIEVE THIS WAS FROM A 1963 CORVETTE MY DAD HAD YEARS AGO. IT HAS A 10 SPLINE INPUT SHAFT WITH NO LINES AND A 27 SPLINE OUTPUT SHAFT.CLUTCH FORK AND THROW OUT BEARING ARE STILL ATTACHED.THIS IS A GOOD TRANNY.BELLHOUSING #6263756. Tom; Looks like the tailstock is right. I just had a 67 in my hand the other day. 3 mounting boses for the shifter and air vent on the top of the stock. john

I,m not an expert on this subject, but I would guess that the shifter assembly for a 63 Corvette 3 speed will not mount on the tailshaft housing of the pictured transmission. I think that the shifter bolts on with 2 bolts at the top and one at the bottom for the 63 model year. At least that's what I gather from looking at pictures of shifter assemblies in Nolan Adam's book. Nolan's book shows some changes occuring to the transmission during the 63 model year, however all of the photos and illustrations show the Corvette 3 speed to have a much shorter gear case and much longer tailshaft housing than the one picturesd on ebay.

I'm sure that someone on this board can identify the tranny for sale on ebay.

Looks like a '66 or later all synchro three speed. Ford made some of them and I believe Muncie made some. Wide use in GM cars. I think the '63 Corvette three speed transmission is the same as all '56-'65 three speeds including the output spline count.

That's a '66-'69-type main case, with some other tailhousing and a non-Corvette bellhousing; gotta love informed eBay descriptions
