    C1 Help - Slung Balancer

    '60 270 2x4

I had the unfortunate experience of slinging the balancer. Fortunately it was at low RPM which limited the damage. Does anyone have any tricks/tips to create a tighter press fit when installing a balancer. I would prefer not to remove the engine and drill the crank snout.

    Thanks in advance

if your harmonic balancer is the original type(steps to the rear--see prvious posts in this regard) then i wouldn't risk damaging a valuable piece of equipment. drill and tap and fasten it with a bolt like its younger brothers (63 solid lifter engines etc) mike

Loctite "Bearing Mount" is very effective for this light press-fit type of joint, but it'll be hell getting it off next time.
