    837 Horn relay

    Hi,

I have a problem with the horns working properly on my 67. Both horns will sound for about one second when the horn button is pushed. Power is still supplied to the horns but they will not sound again until the horn button is released for app. 2 seconds then pushed again. Could it be in the relay?, Time for a Pirkle rebuild? Or could it be something simple that I may be overlooking. I have filed the relay points but am still having the same problem.

    Thanks for any help.
    Dave

It could be the horns themselves. have you tested them by jumping around the relay?

Horns have a thermal overload built into each horn. Depressing the horn button should activate the overloads after a period of time. As the horn get older the resistance builds up and the overload activates much faster.

Probably getting a rebuild on the horns would be the wise thing to do.
