Air Filter Element

I'd like to replace the original foam type air filter element with a modern paper element. The car is a 1965 327/365. A/C number preferred.
Does anybody know if the K&N replacement yields any advantages. The K&N looks like it is of the same (tedious) design as the original, which means frequent baths in gasoline and motor oil.

What you need is an AC 353C also known as GM #6484339. Unfortunately, this filter has recently been discontinued from the GM parts system. However, you may still be able to get it through the AC-Delco parts system from Delco dealers.

I purchased this filter from Paragon last fall. It is not listed in their catalog, but if you describe it as A353C Paper Element, they will provide it for $10.
