    1960 wcfb woes

I gas fouled a plug the otherday on my way to a show. The carb was rebuilt last year by a reputable carb restoration shop. While trying to diagnose the severe miss in my engine I found that when I covered the carb inlet with my hands, instead of choking out the engine, the rpm's actually increased. I thought I had a vacume leak but all my tests on the vacume lines proved negative. I installed a spare rebuilt wcfb carb I have and found the fouled plug and replaced that. Now the motor purrrs just fine. I am wondering if purhaps I have an internal vacume leak in the carb which is causing the rpms to increase when choking by hand. But this seems to contradict the gas fouled plug (too much gas). I want to return the carb to the rebuilder to have it checked out. Comments?

    Don:

I've been locked in a similar struggle with a 2x4 WCFB problem for the last several weeks.

Call the best guy in the carb business: Bob Kunz of Bob Kunz Automotive of St. Louis At 314-845-2566.

I just spent 45 minutes with him on the phone and it was enlightening. I wanted to send my carb in for him to check it out but he insisted I check out some things he suggested before doing that!
