The 71 Convertible that I am restoring does not have the original Windshield or one the is even close to being correct. Pilkington Classics Automotive Glass has a windshield (LOF Safety PLate for a early 71). Like most remanufactures of Glass they can't screen the Script between the glass. It is either sand blasted on the inside or outside. My question is, has anyone done business with these people? From what I can gather the script should be located in the upper passenger corner, is this correct? I also need to know if the script should be readable from the outside or the inside, as with the side windows. If anyone knows of any other source for Windshields your input would be appreciated.

Re: Windshied
Frank,
I don't have an answer to your question more of a suggestion. Paragon in MI has replacement windows and originals. Maybe a bit more than you are looking to spend but the do have them. I have done business with them and they are great people to work with. You can also get a dated original if available.

Re: Windshied
Hi Frank
I have a early 71 convert.(sept car) and it has the original glass I believe.
the scrip is on the lower passenger side readable from the inside. the windshield is dated LT (march of 1970) and the doors are dated UT (July of 1970)

Re: Windshied
Frank also check the 1971 corvette registry, at www.71corvette.com they have some good info on the glass there. On how the early cars have LOF Safety plate and the later cars have Safety Flo-Lite glass. they also have all the date codes.
