I am puzzled about the underbody insulation pieces on my 69 small block. They are two large flat L-shaped pieces with the foil on one side. Apparently, they go under the body between the floor pans and the metal heat shields. For the life of me, I can't see how they fit. They seem to be too long and extend up onto the firewall area way past the splash shield. Also there is no sign of any of the metal clips which are to hold them on. There are no holes where they were riveted before and I see no sign of there ever being any. Is it possible that not all 69's had this piece? I have all the clips and rivets but don't know where to put them. Can anyone help? Thanks!!

Re: underbody insulation
Someone with more knowledge of 69's can help. I do know that my 68 has the metal attachments for the foil backed insulation and I am down to just a piece of the original underbody foil backed insulation on the car now. My 70 does not have the attachments for the foil backed instulation, never has.- Top

Re: underbody insulation
Jim------
Many 69s were not originally equipped with this insulation, particularly later 69s. Based upon your decription of the lack of fasteners, I'd say that yours is one of the ones that never did. My original owner, September-1969 built car never had them.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
