AB passed the Assembly 47-28 on May 26. It has now been read for the first time in the Senate and is awaiting committee assignment, which will probably be the Transportation Committee.
This is not good, guys! Despite what appears to be a good response with many e-mails to Assembly members this thing passed with ease.
It is time to redouble efforts. Just because you have a pre-'76 model, don't think you're off the hook. NO WAY! There is absolutely no doubt that if this passes and is signed by the governor, future attempts to rollback the exemption will occur. Last year's SB 708 initially proposed testing cars back to before the first emission controls (PCV systems) were even required in 1961. It passed, but after changes to the rolling 30 year emission test exemption were deleted.
The Luddites have changed their strategy to take smaller bites instead of one big one!
