    C1 Fuel Pump

Can anyone tell me which fuel pump to use on the 1958 RPO 684 with a very early serial #1320? I have been told that it takes the 4445 instead of the later 4657. If this is true, has anyone out there in Corvette land ever seen an actual original? I am aware that GoatHill Classics have the repops but those mean very little to me. Thanks Again!

Tech Service Bulletin DR #321 dated

October 29, 1957 refers to a noise coming from the fuel pump; correction is to enlarge the forward vent hole to 1/8" with a punch or drift; it then refers to #5594445 as the 'OLD" fuel pump and 5594663 as the "NEW' fuel pump for the Corvette.

Loren - Thank you for posting that bulletin info - When I had my original fuel pump rebuilt a couple years ago, (assumed it was a 4445); it came back stamped 4663 on the edge. I queried the rebuilder as to the difference, but no reply - and could not find any literature on the topic. My car is #378 245 hp, so it looks like 4463 is OK for me. ... Al '58 245hp

Justin, Check out Noland's book. I think the 4657 is ok for your car. I think the changeover occurred aroung car #1100. Mine is s/n 1184 245hp and had an aftermarket pump on it but the fuel line was the earlier 4445 configuration. I tried to get a rebuilt original 4445 w/o any luck or at a reasonable price so I put the 4657 on it and changed the line. Worked out just fine and I think your car would still be "correct". Ken

I have a 4445 on my 58 245 hp. vin 3741. The original pump had the 180 degrees inlet and outlet, with the outlet to the front of the car, but the #s could not be read. I did get a rebuilt one from Engines Limited in Omro, WI. The rebuilt pump looks just like the original, with the AC on top and on the bottom and the numbers 4445 are clearly readable on this pump. Cost about $190.00
