    Valve Cover Decals

Any hints/tips on keeping the valve cover decals from coming off of aluminum valve covers? I have cleaned the covers with the recommneded cleaners, tried installing when the covers are cold, warm, and hot, and still cannot get more than 30 minutes before they have peeled off. Thanks.

Are you using the water release decals? They are on my 65 and '62 for several years now.

      Yes--bought (3) sets from (3) different vendors--same with all 3

Have you tried using warm water to release the decals? Mine have been on over 12 years.

Go to a hobby shop that sells Microscale Products "Microsol". It is used to soften decals when applied to models so that they will "snuggle" down over rivets and depressions on the model. I believe it's a vinegar base that acts as a very mild acid. Once dry, you can overspray it with a clear finish coat.
