    Front Shock ID

    Members,
    I have a pair of front shock absorbers that I am trying to identify.

    P/N is 3198003. They are marked Delco Products Dayton OHIO U.S.A. Just above the bottom weld is P1003 and date code 97-68.

    I was considering using them on my '65. If I have a mind change, I would like to know what they were originally designed to fit.

      I can't find any record of that part nummber. However, that's not surprising. Embossed-on-shock part numbers are most often different than SERVICE part numbers. I can't even find any record of those as PRODUCTION part numbers, either, but that does not mean that they were not used in PRODUCTION for some model. They could also have been a SERVICE-only part which had a different SERVICE (i.e. on-box) part number.

          Joe,
          Thank you for your reply. I cannot provide any additional information regarding the shocks. They are not in the original boxes. Guess I'll paint and give them a drive on the '65.
