    1975 CORVETTE CONVERTIBLE L-82/4SPD

    Hi:

I'm looking to buy a 1975 Convertible L-82 4spd. Does anyone know how many were made that year in this configuration?? The car is fully documented and has been TOP Flighted. It's blue/blue white top with hard top. I know you guy's don't like to discuss values but any idea how much it's worth. It has less than 10,000 original miles.

    Thanks

    Steve

Steve 1975 Convertible-4629 L-82 2372 4spd. about10,000 The 10,000 miles is good but this type of car it's all about codition and originalty. It could be worth from $10k to $25k.

As has been hinted here, the more current the Flight judging, the tougher it is as techniques get better and better. So if the Flight judging is from the last couple of years, it was a tougher test than say from 1990.

Still, it should be a fair indication of the condition of the car. It wouldn't have done well if it wasn't mostly original or original-looking.

You need to assess the mechanical condition (run ok?, leaks?, everything works?) and also add up anything that would need to be repaired or replaced. To retain value, you have to figure on replacing with NOS, original, or accurate reproduction parts, not just anything that fits, so the price of replacement parts will be high.

Take his price, minus all the costs, and compare that to current prices in the market. Ads are an asking price, so figure these will be about 10 percent high on the average. With some cars, the asking is often 50 percent high.

You can compare to eBay prices, but this is a double edged sword. First, the good is that these are selling prices, so that is the real value. Second, the bad is that there are many eBay cars that are not what they are represented to be, and are not truly representative of a good car.

This leads to regular auction sites, but often these are inflated due to the egos of the bidders going nuts on some cars. And comparing a Barrett Jackson auction price to most cars you will find is like comparing Pricess Diana to the girl who lives down the block.

Many point to the Kelly and NADA web sites for the price calculators. Unfortunately, these can be widely varying, like the value on a '63 coupe with the 409 engine, factory air, and Corvette air, or the 63 coupe with the turbo six and fuel injection.

Lyle hit it on the head with his spread of $10,000 to $25,000. You may find a '75 convertible selling for more, but most likely in his range.
