Trying to install the rear windshield on a 64 coupe, the manual calls for "flat spacers and step type spacers"?? When I removed the windshield, it did not have any spacers, that I could remember. Where do they go? Is it a mater of trying to even up all sides? The AIM does not show the rear window!

Re: 64 coupe rear windshield
small rubber blocks were used to center the glass in the opening. as i recall they're about 1/4" thick and about an inch long. they are not easily seen once the stainless mouldings installed so you can eyeball centering or fabricate blocks. mike- Top

Re: 64 coupe rear windshield
You need the blocks in the rear window on a coupe. If you don't use them the window will "sit" too far into the body and the chrome will not fit properly. Believe me, been there done that. The AIM (67) shows the blocks on sht 1ASM F17, item 6 and 9. Unfortunately these are 2 different shapes and I don't know which is which...... I need to find the answer as I'm close to reinstalling the rear window a second time. A "professional" window installer did it the first time... even after I gave him the blocks... and the Chrome never fit worth a darn using the original window and trim. That was 20 years ago. I'm going to do it myself this time..testing the chrome fit before I put the sealing caulk in place. That might tell me the placement of the various sized blocks. Blocks are available from LIC.- Top
