    C1 '58-'60 radiator seal

    Hi all,

Is some able to send me some pictures on how to fit in the radiator seals since my car is running quite high on temperature (200F) on the high way (running 4000 rpm at 77F outside temperature) and I think to much air is leakng besides the radiator.

I realize this area, under th ehood is hard to photograph but some pictures do realy help!!!

    thanks all,
    Rob.

If you look at the assembly manual, it shows how the corner seals are used.
There are five seals inthe lit from Corvette Central. I have been told only 3 are used on non-fuel cars. The two long wider ones with three holes are used on the uprights on the radiator support and are for fuelies only.

The two corners ones with the notch are glued into place in the lower
corners of the radiator support. The notches accept the ends of the
radiator support cross bars. The thin narrow strip is glued into place
    between the two corner pieces.

      Glen,

Thanks for the explination. I've received some photo's as well which clears their location. The only thing I don't understand is what they are for since the air could still flow under the radiator in my car's setup since it doesn't reach all the way down into the radiator mount bracket.

      greetings,
      Rob.

        Rob,

I filled the space below my radiator with a section of water pipe rubber insulation. It is easy to cut and trim to fit and fills the space well.

          Verle,

Ok, but was this originally the design to have this gap or should it been filled one way or the other ?

          greetings,
          Rob.

            Rob,

I don't know the answer for your car. Check the AIM, it should answer the question.
