    Re: C2-Power steering conversion Kit

I purchased mine from Vette Brakes at Bloomington and worked a price deal a couple years ago (BB version). I opted for a new vs rebuilt cylinder, and they did include a new GM correct iron dual belt pulley. The frame mount was a casting from SSBC, I got a used original GM part with the casting number for correctness in appearance, the SSBC part was excellent quality though. It is going on my project 66 427/425, so I haven't installed, but the overall package is fine and very complete, including the correct steering arm etc etc. I think some of the vendors with bargain prices don't include all items, this was complete. One point.....the pump is a correct vintage rebuilt pump, but the housing was the teardrop reservoir versus the correct oval sump model....which is much harder to locate, and either works. I purchased a correct reservoir separately, as VB didn't have any on hand at the time...Craig

I bought a Zip Products conversion for my 1970 BB car. It worked great, was all there except the bolts. I bought those from Paragon. When you install the power steering, follow your service manual to balance the steering valve or you'll find yourself fighting the unit all the time (only takes a minute).
      Good luck,

        Dick,

I got mine from Corvette Central for a 67 327/300. I had a Tire shop put it on last week, when they put new tires on it. Works slick, I couldn't believe the difference.

The kit had everything there except the crankshaft pulley/belt and just bolted on, very easy for a shop although I wouldn't attempt it myself, as you should get a front end alignment and adjustments at the same time. Make sure you get the right crankshaft pulley. On the base engine with A/C, the pump pulley is in the third position. Yours might be different.

The Kit took a long time to get from Corvette Central(about 8 weeks). Cost was $799. The shop charged me $165 to put it on, although I spent $1000 in tires with alignment at the same time.

The power steering is well worth it, especially for us oldsters. My 67 Convertible no longer parks like an old Mack truck. The beauty is, that if you save the original parts, you can always bring it back to original like some other fanatics would do.
