Does anyone out there have a 68 corvette with a dark blue 411 interior that can tell me the color of there window crank handles. I am starting to think that some or all were clear, not dark blue. I have found cars with light blue color but no dark blue. Thanks in advance, Terry

Re: 68 dark blue interior 411?
Terry, if the window crank handles were not blue, I think they would have been black as that is the color used until the mid-1970s. If what you are referring to as clear is the one with the opaque vinyl cover, it was not used until later in C3 production. I am not sure of the years.- Top

Re: 68 dark blue interior 411?
I have a set of 414 trim window cranks and they matched the interior color to that car (light blue color). Are you saying that dark blue 411 interiors used black window cranks rather than dark blue? I assume that they would have used knobs that match the interior. As far as the clear handles I was refering to, they are more gold or yellow looking from age. When they were new, I think they looked silver and then became more golden with time. I am hoping a person with a 68 414 interior will respond and let me know the color of their window crank knobs. Thanks for responding, Terry- Top

Re: 68 dark blue interior 411?
No, I think that all 1968s had interior-colored knobs. I just meant that if they had not been blue, they would have been black as that was available in the same time period. We tend to believe that the vinyl-coated ones (that do turn yellow with age) are service replacements. Joe probably knows.
I have seen knobs the darker color. I seem to remember "dark blue" was really more of a medium blue. Maybe someone out there has a car and can describe it better than I from memory.- Top

Re: 68 dark blue interior 411?
I have seen several over the years that were marked 411, unfortnately I dont remember what the handles looked like. I would assume that if they were anything other than blue, I would have noted it, but I cant say for sure. I can say that I have seen some that were marked 411 and were actually something else. The color was not 414 either, but somewhere in between. These were early cars with "Pilot Sample" interiors. There are a lot of those cars out there with "Pilot Sample" interiors that were way up into the serial numbers near 4000 range. The one that I still have contact with has blue handles, but I think that they may be the 414 color. I still have a set of 411 seat covers that I bought for this car over 20 years ago not knowing that it was something else.- Top

Re: 68 dark blue interior 411?
I have run into a few of the early pilot interior parts. They were pretty nasty looking with vinyl stretched over crud plastic parts. I have a magazine which shows an early, early 68 rear compartment doors with rectangular inset grab handles. Weird! Would like to find some correct handles for my car though. Thanks for the feedback, Terry- Top

Re: 68 dark blue interior 411?
I agree, early 68 didn't have the grab handles at the top of the door. There were also about three versions of 68 doors. I had about 4 pairs around here a couple years ago and they all had slight differences from one another.
The handles I was looking for are the window crank handles for 68 trim 411. Are the knobs on yours blue to match the interior? Also, are they shaped like 67 window crank handles? I heard early 68's were the same as 67. Thanks, Terry- Top
