Replacement overflow tank caps verses orig types?

I am looking for input from this forum on over-the-counter rad caps. My RC-26 cap has gone bad and I have picked up a replacement at my local auto parts store. Their parts books shows either a 16 lb cap or a 13 lb cap only - no 15 lb cap. I haven't seen a 15 lb replacement cap at local stores, and they appear to substitute 16 lb caps. Is there a functional reason to pay $30 or more for a reproduction RC-26 AC cap (or RC-307 13 lb cap) as compared to the $4 Stant cap from my local store? Also, should I choose the 16 lb version or 13 lb option? I'm not showing the car right now. I also heard something about how cap materials can affect the life of my new Dewitt's aluminum rad? Any help from the forum would be appreciated.

also check the depth of the seal on the cap vs the depth of the tank as there are different depths.

I recommend that you use a replacement AC RC-26 radiator cap. This cap under GM #6410206 carries a current GM list price of $19.80. You should be able to get it through a Delco dealer for about 10 bucks. If you use an aftermarket cap, use the 16 psi cap.
