C2 Oil Seepage at Intake manifold

I am getting a small amount of oil seepage past the bolts on my 66 small block intake manifold. The archives say this is not uncommon and refer to a sealer on the bolts.
What kind of sealer? I used permatex and no help. Not enough?? Should there be flat washers under the bolt heads to stop the leaks?

i have good luck using "teflon" pipe dope. i would let the pipe dope "set up" on the bolt threads and then screw them into the heads.

Randy, the same problem just started on my 63. Great timing on this post. I was just looking at the max. torque (30 lbs) and the sequence to tighten the bolts (still looking for that.

For the sealer to be effective, the threads on the bolts AND in the cylinder heads have to be SCRUPULOUSLY CLEAN. This can be tedious with the heads on the car, but it must be done. Afterwards, use the sealer that Clem recommended and torque the bolts to spec. No washers were originally used under these bolts. However, I recommend using them if you're not concerned about strict originality. Or, use small OD "AN" type washers that are more difficult to detect. Another option is to use the flanged head type bolts as originally used for big blocks. These are not original, either, but they're better.
