Does anyone know the application of a #1241 main body number on a WCFB? The top of this carb is a #1396 which I believe would be correct for a 230 hp in a '59.

Re: WCFB Main Body
Tough to say.... You can expect to find 'Heinz 57' WFCB carbs out there that went through reverse-assy line overhaul/rebuild facilities. There, various air horn and body components that could 'grossly' substitute for one another were done so liberally....
The 1396 air horn was used on Corvette carbs in the '59-61 era. The big problem with this part was the air cleaner mounting stud went through the center hole on the air horn and the stud was prone to crack/damage when a mechanic or prior owner was in a hurry to re-install the air cleaner and 'bumped' the mounting stud causing the cut-out to chip/crack....
There's no record of a 1251 body being used on any Corvette WCFB carb, but that doesn't mean it wasn't used in some other legitimate Carter WCFB configuration. The closest you get for Corvette is a 1451 body (did you mis-read?) used on 63-63 Corvette carbs.- Top
