    Fuel tank

I installing a new fuel tank on an early 63 SWC. My question is: When stencelling the St.Luis part number (purchased stencel from Paragon), does the number apear on the RH side of the tank ? Also, I have seen pictures of the number being up-side-down, (same as on side of RH side of frame) Why is the number up-sidedown. The tank was installed after the frame was flipped over...

    Re: Fuel tank

The numbers were stenciled at the tank factory..... and were probably stored upside down. The number is the part number for the tank.

My '67 has the stencil on the driver side upside down

Not all tanks were stencilled. In fact, most were not. The tanks were stacked upside down on the pallets at the O. L. Anderson manufacturing plant in Detroit. One, or sometimes a few more, tanks on each pallet were stencilled with the part number to identify the contents of that pallet. I don't think that the stencils, when applied, were applied at precise locations on a tank.
