    PAINT

Am looking for a spray paint that will match the green hue wheels of the 68 to 70 model years. I have heard of actually mixing 4 drops of a medium tint green with a pint of PPG DL 5868 argent silver will do the trick but the paint shop isn't really comfortable nor am I without knowing specifically what green to use. One member stated Duplicolor's Light Pewter in a spray can but they have apparently discontinued this name or color all together. What can I use that will be close enough for no deduction? Thanks in advance.

I think that the mix you stated will do the trick. I would spray a small test panel to be sure. Your spare wheel is probably the correct color and would be a good item to compare the hue.

The only problem is, I'm not positive that my spare is correct and I was going to have this paint put into spray cans which is 17.50 each and would really like to nail down a green color code first. Also, I'm a little color blind which doesn't help!

Clean your spare wheel and have someone that has a "good eye" for color to see if that in fact it does or does not have a green tint to it. It is a very subtle tint.

          Paul:
The post you were referring to may have been mine since I had the mix done and posted it. I just asked the paint mixer at the supply house I use (Painter's Supply, Pontiac, MI) to add 4 drops of a medium green tint and it came out really well. I don't know what the name of the tint was. I know this is not what you were asking for but this is all I have.

            Re: PAINT

I ended up putting about 10 drops in a pint of PPG DLL8568 argent silver. I would say that the tint green was probably just above medium. As far as I can tell, it looks pretty good! Going to a car show the 26th of this month in Santa Maria, Ca. so we'll see what the experts say if theres any there.

Thanks for the help Jack & Jeff.

I apologize Dick, I would like to thank you also. I think I inhaled too many paint fumes!
