1969 alternator

Was in Austria last week to visit a "Corvette Festival Of Speed".
The voltage regulator of the original 61A alternator broke down and a bearing sounds bad.
What is best place to buy spare parts?

Dr. Rebuild carries all of the internal parts that you need to rebuild your alternator. Otherwise, if you wish to purchase the parts in your country, a GM or Delco dealer there should be able to get these for you.

I recommend that the following parts ALWAYS be replaced when servicing an alternator internally:

1) BRUSHES-----GM #88921214; Delco #D-732 OR complete brush holder with installed brushes (the only thing that I use) GM #1984462; Delco #D-766

2) BEARING, slip ring end---GM #9441879; Delco #MNJ711

3) BEARING, drive end----GM #12339293; Delco #7503-1

In your case, since you apparently know that the regulator is bad you should replace it as follows:

REGULATOR, voltage internal type----GM #1116423; Delco #D-680

You should also check the diodes, rotor, and stator per the procedures outlined in the Chevrolet Chassis Service or Chassis Overhaul Manual. This is very simply done with a volt/ohm meter (VOM). If necessary, you can replace these components, as required.
