Hello all. Well I finally did it! After owning my '69 since 1971 and membership in the NCRS since the Reagan administration, I had my car judged for the first time Sat. at the Michigan Chapter Meet. I haven't received my sheets back yet since I was unable to attend the banquet, but from adding up the deductions as they were reviewed with me, I am pretty sure I lost less than 100 points in all 5 categories. In 1 category I had 0 deductions (operations). I want to let you all know how terrific the members of the Mich. chapter are! Form check in time in the pouring rain on Fri afternoon to Sat at 4 P.M. they were the most courtious, helpfull, and knowledgable people. When I arrived on Friday in the rain (by the way, I had forgotten what an adventure it is driving in the rain on those bias-ply tires)I was told that we would be storing the cars inside the body shop of the dealership overnight and that I could bring the car in a 5 o'clock. Unforunately for me I had a wedding to to be at in less than 2 hours. Fortunately, the chapter has Bob Dubie as a member. He put my car into the service check-in area and said he would take care of moving the car to the body shop at the appropriate time and, no, he would not allow the 21 year old porter to move the car- he would do it himself and be sure to turn the battery disconnect off when he was done. As promised, the car was as where it was suppose to be. Also, you should know that John Hinckley is the best! In all of the judging I had 1 issue that I needed taken to a higher authority. John did something very rare today- he listened, understood my concern, and promised to check into it. Within 5 minutes he was back with a decision in my favor. Even if the decision had been unfavorable, I would be telling you how well the matter was taken care of. Overall, I have only good things to say about the Chapter, the process, and experience. And I got a Top Flight to boot!!
