The headlamps are adjusted using 2 screws located near the rim of each capsule (sealed beam/retaining ring/"bucket"). However, to perform this adjustemnt properly you need a a HEADLAMP ADJUSTER. These can be purchased from Kent-Moore (J-25300-D) or from others for about $1,000. Most folks with any sense about them (which, unfortunately, doesn't include me) don't consider this a wise investment and take their cars to someone that has the equipment to have it done for about $25.
There are some other ways to do the job using improvised procedures (i.e. shining the lights on a flat surface with the car a certain distance away) and using a procedure to adjust the beams with the adjusting screws. However, headlamps are a very important SAFETY item. The best bet is to have it done properly by someone with the right equipment. It only takes a few minutes and you shouldn't have to leave the car as it's usually done on a while-you-wait basis. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Mike I have a plastic tool I bought years ago that rests on the three glass tabs that are groud true on all round headlights. It is easy to use but you may need to ask your car friends if they have this tool you could borrow. If you see one at a swap meet it is yellow with a level on it. LyleLyle

Perhaps I wasn't clear in my post. I need to align the BUCKETS, not aim the headlights.- Top

Mike------
Other than the final headlamp aim adjustment that I discussed, there is no alignment procedure necessary for the "buckets". They get "aligned" when the headlamps are aimed. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
