C3 Rear Stabilzer Bar Source?

I recently learned my 1974 Coupe with 454/Auto should be equipped with a rear stabilizer bar. Everything is missing from mine except for the holes. It looks like I can buy most of the hardware and pieces from the catalogs. I have not been able to find the actual stabilizer bar. Does anyone have a source? Does anyone have details on part number, size, or other relevant information?

Used or NOS is about your only option. As far as I know, none of the Corvette stabilizer bars are reproduced. The rear bar that you require is GM #3967713. This bar was used on all 1969 thru 1974 Corvettes with big block and it is a 9/16" OD bar. It is similar to the bar used for 65-67 big blocks except that it has 2 mirror-image offsets in the long section of the bar.

Thanks Joe, this is what I was looking for. I didn't think any of the vendors had these from what I could see.

Another board member contacted me via e-mail with a 13/16" diameter bar that he states is for a '73/74. He wants $100 for the bar and all links and brackets. Needs new bushings.

This doesn't sound like the right sway bar. It might be an aftermarket bar.

I guess I need to start looking around for used or NOS.

If the bar is actually 13/16" OD then it's not an original Corvette rear bar. Only 2 sizes have ever been used for 65-82 Corvette rear bars----65-74 with big block used 9/16" and 75-82 with FE-7 used 7/16".

13/16" may be a front bar, though. Corvette front bars were 3/4", 7/8", 1" and 1-1/8". However, these are nominal dimensions and sometimes the 7/8" bar is measured at and/or described as 13/16".

It this the offset you are taking about? This bar was on my 65 327 when I bought it. I am curious what it is.

Yes, this is the GM #3967713 rear bar originally used for 1969-74 Corvettes with big block. As you can easily see, it will fit any C2 with no problems, at all. However, it was never originally used on a C2, and, certainly, it was never originally used on any C2 small block.

If you want the one in the picture make me an offer. I do not plan to put it back on my 65 small block. It has been bead blasted and painted with the stainless steel paint sold by LIC. It includes a new set bushings and brackets for installation (except the bracket that mounts to the frame, I think).
