Third arm bracket busted in half

On our '54, the third arm bracket for the front steering busted clean today. Thank God it happened when turning into the driveway.

Does this part interchange with passenger cars? Corvette catalogs list it as a $200 part.

I was told an improved bracket came out in '58. Will that bracket bolt onto the '54?

pass car third arm not even close alto other 49-54 pass car front susp. components will interchange. lifting front of c-1 on the 3rd member most common cause of fracture. they're in limited supply so you're gonna have large bucks in replacing it. don't be tempted to weld it unless the welder is good enough to weld the crack of dawn and guarantee it. not sure if later c-1 third arms superior to the 54 but can guarantee they'll fit your 54, clear up to 62. good luck, mike.

Wayne - There are 2 mounting brackets listed, with a change about 1958. I'd try Chicago Corvette Supply. You and I were lucky that we broke that bracket while trying to "park" the car... Yes, $200 part. Best, Dennis
